Svmuu News: According to the Korea Printed Circuit Board and Semiconductor Packaging Industry Association (KPCA), Samsung and SK Hynix, frustrated by upstream substrate manufacturers’ frequent price hikes due to market shortages, plan to demand price reductions from substrate manufacturers. In their latest price negotiations with suppliers, they have requested that substrate manufacturers lower their quotes, intending to reverse the average price increase of approximately 3% to 4% implemented in the first quarter of this year.
It is reported that the reason Samsung and SK Hynix are pushing for lower quotes is that earlier this year, due to rising prices of raw materials such as gold and copper, they accepted price increases of approximately 3% to 4% from substrate manufacturers. However, as fluctuations in raw material prices have recently stabilized, they believe that with the underlying factors for price hikes no longer present, prices for the second half of the year should return to the levels prior to the increases.
