Goettsche was charged with operating a cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme involving $722 million and was originally scheduled to stand trial in October.On July 8, Goettsche’s legal team notified the judge that the two sides had reached an “agreement in principle” to resolve the pending charges. The case has been ongoing for seven years since 2019, and three co-defendants have already pleaded guilty.Goettsche assembled a legal team with ties to the Donald Trump administration to lobby on his behalf, including Florida attorney Bradford Cohen—who appeared on *The Apprentice*—and Brett Tolman, who previously helped a client secure a pardon from Donald Trump.
