Svmuu News: According to data from the Korea Exchange, foreign investors recorded cumulative net sales of approximately 12.44 trillion won in South Korean stocks between July 1 and 16. Of this amount, net sales in the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) market totaled 12.10 trillion won, while net sales on the KOSDAQ market totaled 338.1 billion won. At the same time, foreign investors bucked the trend by making net purchases of South Korean ETFs totaling approximately 593.7 billion won. It is worth noting that both ETFs tracking the KOSPI 200 Index and inverse ETFs betting on a market decline ranked among the top net purchases by foreign investors, indicating that foreign investors are not uniformly bearish on the market but are instead hedging risks and responding to market volatility by allocating across long and short products.
Regarding single-stock leveraged ETFs, foreign investors showed divergent attitudes toward Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, with the two companies experiencing “polar opposites.” From July 1 to 16, foreign investors made cumulative net purchases of 22.7 billion won in single-stock leveraged ETFs tracking Samsung Electronics, but recorded net sales of as much as 122.1 billion won in leveraged ETFs related to SK Hynix.
