Svmuu News: Zach Pandl, Head of Research at Grayscale, stated on July 15, 2026, that if the price of Bitcoin has formed a solid bottom but is consolidating before a recovery, a covered call strategy could generate income from Bitcoin volatility while managing spot price exposure.
Grayscale assumes a spot price of $65,000 for Bitcoin and an implied volatility of 40%, and projects the strategy through the end of 2026.Under this scenario, the covered call strategy yields an annualized return of approximately 22%, remains profitable above a breakeven price of about $58,500, and outperforms holding the spot asset alone Bitcoin by the time Bitcoin reaches approximately $72,500 at expiration.
Pandl notes that option premiums provide income and downside protection, at the cost of forgoing some upside potential if Bitcoin rises significantly. If Bitcoin the spot price falls below the breakeven point, the strategy will still incur a loss, but the loss will be less than that of a direct long position in spot Bitcoin Bitcoin, with the difference equivalent to the call option premium.
Grayscale’s Grayscale Bitcoin Covered Call ETF, ticker symbol BTCC, aims to maximize income-generating potential through the writing of covered calls. The fund does not invest directly in digital assets or initial coin offerings (ICOs), but rather gains indirect exposure to digital assets through derivatives linked to exchange-traded products that hold digital assets.
