Svmuu News: One year after the U.S. “GENIUS Act” took effect, Tether’s stablecoin USDT faces a roughly two-year compliance adjustment period. If it fails to meet U.S. stablecoin regulatory requirements in the future, USDT may face the risk of being delisted from U.S. crypto platforms.
The GENIUS Act requires stablecoin issuers to maintain adequate reserves, primarily allocated to highly liquid assets such as cash and U.S. Treasury bonds. Tether’s latest reserve disclosure shows that a portion of USDT’s reserves remains allocated to assets such as precious metals, lending assets, and Bitcoin—assets that may not comply with the new regulations.
