North Korean Hackers Steal Approximately $630,000 in Cryptocurrency from ORO
Svmuu News: ORO, a developer of AI shopping bots, disclosed that it suffered losses of approximately $630,000 due to a suspected cyberattack by North Korean hackers. The attackers sent ORO employees fake Microsoft Teams links via compromised Telegram accounts, tricking them into installing a malicious extension. After stealing data for nearly a month, they stole 147,000 Alpha tokens on July 13. ORO is highly confident that the attack originated from the North Korean hacking group Sapphire Sleet. ORO also acknowledged its own security lapses: due to the Bittensor protocol’s insufficient support for hardware wallets, the company temporarily stored owner keys in software wallets—a violation of its internal “hardware wallet first” policy—which led to the keys being stolen from the compromised computer.
