Svmuu News Ethereum Taiko, a Layer 2 network, released a post-incident analysis of the June 21 security incident, stating that the attack stemmed from the leakage of off-chain signing keys and an oversight in the verification process. The attacker exploited these vulnerabilities to forge proofs and bypass the Prover whitelist; neither ZK cryptography nor the smart contract was compromised. The attacker stole approximately $1.75 million from the cross-chain bridge and the Vault, but over $11 million in assets were protected, and no user funds were lost.Taiko has patched the vulnerability, restored the system to its pre-attack state, and went live again on July 2; an audit by OpenZeppelin confirmed that the fix resolved all identified high-, medium-, and low-risk vulnerabilities. The team also announced that the Unzen upgrade, scheduled for August 6, will require every block to submit a ZK proof to further enhance network security.
