Stripe in Talks to Acquire OpenRouter
Svmuu News: According to sources familiar with the matter, Stripe is in talks to acquire OpenRouter. OpenRouter is a high-profile startup dedicated to helping developers choose among various AI models. The sources said the deal could be announced soon, though there is a possibility that negotiations could break down or that other bidders could emerge. The specific asking price remains unclear, but reports suggest the company’s valuation could be around $10 billion. The sources added that several major tech companies had previously expressed interest in acquiring OpenRouter. Founded in 2023, OpenRouter sells software that gives customers easy access to AI models developed by OpenAI and Anthropic, as well as “open-weight” models that anyone can download and run for free. Acquiring OpenRouter would enable Stripe to tap into a hot growth area in the AI market. (Jin Shi)
