Svmuu News: On July 22, the South Korean polling firm Realmeter conducted a survey of 504 adults aged 18 and older nationwide. The results showed that the South Korean public holds a distinctly negative view of the launch of single-stock leveraged ETFs. The survey found that 63.7% of respondents believed the introduction of single-stock leveraged ETFs was a “wrong decision,” with 41.2% calling it “very wrong” and 22.5% saying it was “generally wrong.” In contrast, 19.0% believed the decision was correct, while 17.4% said they were “unsure.”
Regarding the supplementary measures for single-stock leveraged ETFs announced by South Korea’s financial regulators on the 16th, 59.2% of respondents felt they were “insufficient.” Regarding further improvements to the measures, “limiting the number of trades per day” received the highest support at 24.1%; this was followed by “significantly raising the initial margin requirement” (22.2%), “significantly raising the minimum trade unit requirement” (21.5%), and “extending mandatory investor education sessions” (10.6%).
