Svmuu News: Driven by profit growth fueled by the AI boom and influenced by U.S. tariff policies, South Korean companies are experiencing their largest wave of investment and mergers and acquisitions in the U.S. in recent years. According to data from the South Korean Ministry of Economy and Finance, South Korean companies’ actual foreign direct investment (FDI) in the U.S. more than doubled year-over-year in the first quarter of this year to $10.2 billion, reaching a five-year high. Companies benefiting from AI infrastructure, such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, are accelerating their expansion into the U.S. AI supply chain. Samsung has already participated in funding rounds for ZutaCore, a liquid-cooling provider for AI data centers, and Groq, an AI chip company, while SK Hynix plans to invest $10 billion in U.S. innovation firms. Investment banking analysts believe that, against the backdrop of Chinese buyers withdrawing from the U.S. market for mergers and acquisitions of major tech assets, South Korean companies are entering a “golden age” for M&A in the United States.
