Svmuu News: Data shows that South Korean retail investors made massive purchases of 14 single-stock leveraged ETFs on the 24th, with the total value of purchases on that single day reaching approximately 450 billion won. Prior to this, South Korean retail investors had recorded cumulative net sales of about 500 billion won over three consecutive days. According to data from the Korea Exchange and Koscom Check, as of July 26, retail investors had net sold 14 single-stock leveraged products for three consecutive days from July 21 to 23, with a cumulative net selling amount of 547,171.38 million won. This trend reversed completely on July 24. In just one day, retail investors made net purchases of seven single-stock leveraged products for Samsung Electronics, with a net purchase amount of 103,895.9 million won; At the same time, they also made net purchases of seven single-stock leveraged products for SK Hynix, with a net purchase amount of 350.02688 billion won.
It is worth noting that these net purchases occurred on “Black Friday,” when the KOSPI index fell by more than 5%, and both Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix closed down 7% to 8%. As a result, single-stock leveraged ETFs tracking these two companies also plummeted by 15% to 16%. Analysts believe that the sharp decline in the prices of single-stock leveraged ETFs attracted some investors to buy on the dip. In addition, as new regulations raising minimum margin requirements are set to take effect on the 31st, some retail investors may have sought to increase their positions by “averaging down” before the tighter regulations took effect, thereby driving demand for these products.
