Corning Shares Slide 11.2% as Disappointing Q3 Guidance Overshadows Q2 Earnings Beat
Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) shares fell 11.2% after the company reported better-than-expected second-quarter earnings but issued a weaker-than-anticipated outlook for the third quarter. The specialty glass and materials manufacturer posted adjusted earnings per share of $0.78 on revenue of $4.74 billion, both exceeding analyst estimates. However, its third-quarter adjusted EPS guidance of $0.85-$0.89 (midpoint $0.87) and revenue guidance of $4.9 billion-$5.0 billion (midpoint $4.95 billion) both came in slightly below Wall Street expectations, overshadowing the strong Q2 performance.
