According to a survey conducted by GlobalData in the second quarter of 2026, supply chain insurance has become the most sought-after product amid geopolitical tensions. The survey gathered feedback from 107 industry insiders, with 41.1% of respondents identifying supply chain insurance as the product with the highest demand, followed by cyber insurance at 20.6%. Ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, which have led to trade bottlenecks, along with the United States’ shift toward economic nationalism—manifested in tariff hikes, export restrictions, and sanctions—are the primary reasons driving companies to seek products that safeguard their day-to-day operations. However, despite strong demand, insurers have withdrawn products due to difficulties in quantifying risks, resulting in a reduction in underwriting capacity.
