MicroStrategy has suspended purchases of Bitcoin for five weeks and, for the first time, indicated that it may sell Bitcoin to repurchase preferred stock.
U.S. business intelligence company MicroStrategy has not purchased any Bitcoin for five consecutive weeks, marking its longest hiatus in nearly two years. Last week, the company spent $25 million to repurchase its preferred stock and stated that future buybacks may be funded by selling its MSTR shares, as well as by selling Bitcoin depending on market conditions. This move marks a departure from MicroStrategy’s long-standing “never sell” stance on Bitcoin. Currently, MicroStrategy holds 843,775 Bitcoin. At current prices, the value of its Bitcoin holdings is approximately $9.8 billion below its purchase cost.
