Iran has rejected Oman's proposal for joint oversight of the Strait of Hormuz and warned it would close the strategic waterway if its proposed shipping route plan is not accepted. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, stated that Tehran would not accept Oman's 50-50 management split proposal, nor would it recognize the US-backed southern route or allow de-mining operations by other powers in the strait. He emphasized that Iran's proposal includes all inbound traffic using a route within Iranian waters, with part of the outbound route also controlled by Iran. Gharibabadi warned that if Iran's plan is not accepted, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed, and Iran is prepared for a restart of war, treating any foreign warship, equipment, or vessel attempting de-mining as a "legitimate target." This development comes as regional attacks escal
