The second statement issued under Federal Reserve Chair Wash continued the new communication style and omitted forward guidance.
The Federal Reserve released its second Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) statement under Chair Kevin Wash. The statement continued the communication reforms Wash had previously pledged; compared to the era of his predecessor, Jerome Powell, it was shorter and more concise, and omitted forward guidance and information on FOMC members’ votes. When Wash first assumed the chairmanship in June, he stated that forward guidance was “inappropriate for the current policy environment.”
