Google Google announced that, thanks to its internal AI tools, the number of security vulnerabilities patched in its Chrome browser in June exceeded the total number patched over the past two years. The company stated that a total of 1,072 security vulnerabilities were patched in Chrome versions 149 and 150, released in June, surpassing the 1,036 vulnerabilities patched across 23 versions over the previous two years. Google Doug Turner, Director of Engineering, noted that large language models (LLMs) have transformed vulnerability discovery into an automated, industrial-scale operation, significantly improving cybersecurity efficiency. Microsoft has previously stated that the number of vulnerabilities patched across its product line has reached a record high, a feat also attributed to the use of AI.
