Apple has introduced a new "Apple Upgrade" program, a hardware leasing agreement that replaces its previous purchase program. The new scheme allows consumers to lease iPhones and other Apple products for 12 or 24 months (Apple Watches for 24 or 36 months) with lower monthly payments. The program, facilitated by buy-now-pay-later company Klarna, includes an option to upgrade, return, or purchase the device at the end of the lease term via a residual payment.
However, entry-level products such as the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, Apple Watch SE, MacBook Neo, Mac mini, iPad (A16), and Studio Display are not available through this program. For example, an iPhone 17 Pro 256GB (purchase price $1,099) could be leased for $31.99 per month over 24 months or $45.99 per month over 12 months, excluding taxes and trade-in credit.
