BP Completes Sale of Gelsenkirchen Refinery to Klesch Group, Expects ~$1B Operating Cost Reduction
The divestment, first announced in March, is part of BP's ongoing portfolio optimization strategy. The Gelsenkirchen complex, with a crude distillation capacity of approximately 265,000 barrels per day, includes the Horst and Scholven sites and the Bottrop tank farm. BP stated the transaction is expected to be free cash flow accretive and strengthens its balance sheet.
