Japan's Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) recorded a quarterly record 24.09 trillion yen ($153 billion) in gains for the three months through June. This achievement reflects an 8.2% return on its mix of domestic and international stocks and bonds, primarily boosted by surging stocks driven by AI investment. The fund's assets under management reached 317.76 trillion yen in June, surpassing 300 trillion yen for the first time.
