Chinese chip manufacturer SMIC announced its unaudited results for the second quarter of 2026, with revenue reaching $3.006 billion, a year-on-year increase of 36.1% and a quarter-on-quarter increase of 20%. The company's net profit was $733 million, a nearly four-fold surge year-on-year. Gross margin rose from 20.1% in the first quarter to 25.3%.

The company expects third-quarter revenue to grow by 2% to 4% quarter-on-quarter, with gross margin further improving to 26% to 28%. SMIC stated that the performance growth was mainly driven by the spillover of AI demand, which kept capacity utilization at a high level (93.7%), continuous optimization of product structure, and increases in both wafer shipments and average selling prices.
