The South Korean steelmaker broke ground Friday on the new facility, a joint venture with Posco, Hyundai Motor and Kia, which will have an annual production capacity of 2.7 million metric tons of steel. This marks a major step in Hyundai Steel's effort to establish a manufacturing base in the US and grow its supply of automotive steel to global carmakers.
