Anthropic reached a $1.5 billion copyright settlement with authors last year, but authors recently complained that publishers and literary agents are claiming more than their fair share of the settlement funds. Under the terms of the settlement, Anthropic will pay $3,000 for each of nearly 500,000 pirated works. For in-print books, authors and publishers will split the payment 50/50, while agents typically do not receive copyright shares.
