Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei accused the United States of instigating conflict and expecting other countries to bear its economic costs. Baqaei stated that the Strait of Hormuz was open before the war, and he attributed shipping disruptions, tanker stoppages, and rising energy prices to Washington, accusing the U.S. of attempting to shift the responsibility for the resulting trade and energy market turmoil to Tehran.
