IAEA warns over Iran nuclear access as Western powers push for UN Security Council referral
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) warned on Monday that it remains unable to verify Iran’s nuclear material more than a year after losing access to key facilities, urging Tehran to restore effective cooperation. This comes as France, Germany, the UK, and the US are pressing the IAEA to report Iran to the UN Security Council, seeking support for a draft resolution to send the issue back to the UNSC for the first time in two decades. Iran has rejected the move, maintaining its nuclear program is peaceful and warning of “necessary measures” if the resolution is pursued.
