Regarding the outlook for the Strait of Hormuz, Hashimoto expressed pessimism about a swift return to normal shipping in the area, stating that it is "almost impossible to resume normal service for the time being." Data released Monday by analytics firm Kpler showed that an average of 10 commodity vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz daily over the past 10 days, the lowest level since May. He hopes that negotiations between Iran and Persian Gulf countries like Oman and Qatar will lead to a "reasonably good situation," but also noted that this would "take some time."
