CoreWeave CEO Says US Data Center Backlash Won't Stop AI Infrastructure Build-Out
CoreWeave CEO Michael Intrator stated at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia & Tech Conference that despite local opposition blocking or delaying 75 data center projects worth $130 billion in the first three months of this year, and a Gallup poll showing 70% of Americans oppose local AI data center construction, the demand for computing power will not change. He explained that this will only lead to data centers relocating to other sites, potentially increasing costs, but they will ultimately be built because market signals support this trend. CoreWeave has mitigated risks by diversifying its data center footprint both domestically and internationally, currently holding over 1 gigawatt of capacity outside the United States.
