Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has proposed EIP-8288, a significant upgrade he hopes to include in the I-star fork (after Hegota). This proposal, deemed the "next step after Frames," is designed to unlock extreme power by enabling ultra-cheap quantum-safe signatures (SPHINCS-), significantly reducing signature data that needs to go on-chain. It also aims to drastically cut the cost of quantum-safe privacy protocols from millions to tens of thousands of gas, and provide universal support for new signature or proof schemes without requiring EVM changes. Additionally, EIP-8288 would facilitate private account abstraction, allowing users to keep account logic private and change ownership of all on-chain assets without revealing specific objects.
