The U.S. Treasury announced it would repurchase up to $6 billion in long-term government bonds, triple the usual amount, but the market remained unconvinced. On Wednesday, the 10-year Treasury yield still rose by about 4 basis points to around 4.85%, and the 30-year Treasury yield surpassed 5.3%. Previously, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had pledged on August 19 to at least double the repurchase size.
