Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala Investment Company has reached an agreement to strategically invest in Luckin Coffee through its new fund vehicle. It will acquire 241.095 million shares of Luckin preferred stock held by two legacy funds under Luckin's controlling shareholder, Centurium Capital. The total transaction size is approximately $1 billion and does not involve Luckin issuing new shares for financing. Based on the $1 billion for preferred shares, the implied price per share is approximately $4.15, and the implied price per ADS is approximately $33.18. Mohamed Abdalla Al-Hajeri, Head of Asia for Mubadala Investment Company, stated that Mubadala remains optimistic about long-term investment opportunities in China's consumer sector and will leverage its long-standing partnership with Centurium Capital to support Luckin's continued growth in China and international markets.
