Expedia CEO: Consumers Prioritize Travel Despite Record High US Gas Prices
Expedia Group (EXPE) CEO Ariane Gorin stated at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia & Tech Conference that consumers are still traveling despite the average gas price reaching a record high of $4.15 per gallon in the US over Labor Day. She noted a 35% increase in searches during the Labor Day period, primarily focused on vacation destinations such as Las Vegas and Mexico. Looking ahead to the fall, searches for cities like Chicago, Boston, and New York have increased, with consumers showing a greater tendency to use budget or all-inclusive filters to find deals. Expedia's Q2 revenue grew 14% year-over-year, and adjusted EPS increased by 36%. The company has raised its full-year 2026 revenue growth guidance to 9%-10% (previously 6%-9%), with total gross bookings projected to reach up to $130.8 billion.
