Yahoo Finance analysts compared the investment prospects of two healthcare companies, Axsome Therapeutics (NASDAQ:AXSM) and Viking Therapeutics (NASDAQ:VKTX). Axsome Therapeutics reported revenues of nearly $638.5 million in fiscal year 2025, a year-over-year increase of approximately 65.5%, with a net loss of about $183.2 million. It already has several central nervous system drugs on the market. Viking Therapeutics, a clinical-stage company, reported zero revenue in fiscal year 2025 and a net loss of approximately $359.6 million. Its lead candidate, VK2735 (for obesity), is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials. Analysts noted that despite Axsome's rapid growth, Viking holds a greater long-term opportunity in the vast obesity market, thus favoring Viking Therapeutics.
