Brent crude futures fell 3.58% to $103.78 per barrel on Friday, while WTI crude dropped 2.17% to $99.23 per barrel, after both recorded their first double-digit weekly gains in months, breaking above $100.
Brent and WTI crude futures ended their respective five- and eight-day winning streaks. This followed a surge in oil prices driven by geopolitical factors such as escalating conflict in the Middle East, concerns over shipping safety in the Red Sea, and Saudi oil production falling to its lowest level since 1990. Brent crude saw a weekly gain of 8.4%, while WTI crude rose 9.2% over the week.
