Tokyo-based bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet cuts executive reward pool by 41%, extinguishing $220 million in value
Tokyo-based bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet cut the size of its management equity reward pool by 41% to 188.2 million potential shares in the Series 10 Stock Acquisition Rights plan, following protests from shareholders. CEO Simon Gerovich stated that the move extinguishes over $220 million of warrant value. This follows an August adjustment that had already cut the pool to about 320 million shares. The plan, initiated in 2022, originally established a reward pool of 20% of Metaplanet's fully diluted share capital, a structure that drew objections from investors who joined after 2024.
