US stocks rebounded on Friday, regaining much of their weekly losses, as Brent crude oil prices eased 2.8% to settle at US$104.61 per barrel after nearing US$110 overnight. The S&P 500 climbed 0.9%, snapping a four-day losing streak, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1% and the Nasdaq composite rose 1%. A US inflation report on Friday showed consumer prices were 3.4% higher last month than a year earlier, which was close to economists' expectations and helped calm the market. This data strengthened expectations among traders that the Federal Reserve will hike its main interest rate at its meeting next week. Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh has been adamant about not giving hints on interest rates, though he did calm some investor concerns in a late last month speech. President Donald Trump has been pushing for lower interest rates.
