Tim Cook, who stepped down as Apple CEO on September 1, oversaw the repurchase of more than $880 billion worth of shares through Q2 2026. This led to a 44% reduction in outstanding shares since late 2012, effectively increasing each share's stake in Apple's business by 80%. During this period, Apple's net income tripled, while earnings per share grew more than 5.5-fold, and share prices surged nearly 12-fold since fiscal 2013.
