Prediction markets are becoming more professionalized, making it harder for traders to profit, experts say

According to an academic paper analyzing $13.76 billion in Polymarket trades, roughly 27% of dollar profits were captured by just 3% of consistently skilled accounts. As more institutions enter, competition intensifies, and the proportion of traders with an edge is expected to shrink from 3% to potentially below 1%.
