China's National Bureau of Statistics announced on Tuesday that from January to August 2026, total retail sales of consumer goods reached 32,756.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.1%. Excluding automobiles, retail sales of consumer goods rose by 2.7%. In August alone, total retail sales of consumer goods were 3,982.4 billion yuan, up 0.4% year-on-year. Excluding automobiles, retail sales of consumer goods increased by 2.5%.
