The HKMA has received reports from banks regarding fraudulent websites, internet banking login screens, phishing emails, or other scams. The authority reminds the public that banks will not send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing users to transaction pages, nor will they ask for sensitive information like login passwords or One-Time Passwords via phone, email, or SMS. Individuals who have provided personal information or conducted financial transactions in response to these scams should contact their bank and report the matter to the Hong Kong Police Force Crime Wing Information Centre at 2860 5012.
