In response to the talent demand fueled by the AI boom, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are collaborating with several South Korean universities through "contract department" programs. These partnerships involve co-developing curricula, providing financial support, and offering employment pathways to eligible students. For instance, SK Hynix's System Semiconductor Engineering Department at Sogang University and Samsung Electronics' Smart Software Department at Sungkyunkwan University both offer scholarships and post-graduation job opportunities. According to data from Jongro Academy in Seoul, applications for contract departments partnered with major corporations surged over 38% within a year. Among these, Samsung Electronics-related programs saw 13.44 applicants per spot, while SK Hynix-related programs had 9.14 applicants per spot.
