Analyst: Federal Reserve Meeting May Challenge Chairman Warsh, Bitcoin Could Benefit
CoinDesk analysis suggests that with the market having almost fully priced in a 25 basis point rate hike (bringing the federal funds target range to 3.75%-4%), Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh's failure to deliver a sufficiently hawkish message at today's press conference could damage the central bank's anti-inflation credibility. Analyst Robin Brooks believes that Warsh will struggle to meet the market's aggressive rate hike expectations, potentially leading to market disappointment, a weaker dollar, and rising long-term Treasury yields. Although rising yields are typically unfavorable for non-yielding assets, if driven by inflation signals rather than economic growth prospects, assets like Bitcoin and gold could still rise after an initial flight-to-safety reaction. Currently, Bitcoin is down nearly 3% ahead of the Fed's decision, trading at $75,800, and the 10-year Treasury yield is approaching 5%.
