The Motley Fool Analysis: Shopify Stock Down 25% From Highs, But Alphabet Might Be a Better Buy Than SpaceX and the Magnificent Seven in September
The Motley Fool analysis indicates that Shopify's stock price has fallen 25% from its peak a year ago, despite revenue growing 34% to $6.7 billion and net profit reaching $921 million in the first half of 2026. Conservative earnings guidance and concerns about AI disruption have weighed on the stock. Currently, Shopify's forward P/E ratio is 69x, while SpaceX's P/S ratio is 93x, and Google parent company Alphabet's P/E ratio is 17x. The analysis suggests that Alphabet's AI platform Gemini and Waymo businesses are expected to generate substantial revenue in 2027. Alphabet's revenue grew 24% in the first half of 2026, and Google Cloud's latest quarterly revenue increased by 82%. At its current valuation, Alphabet may offer better growth opportunities.
