XRPL's new lending tool introduces closed vaults, allowing XRP to be locked for minutes to decades.
The XRP Ledger Foundation released xrpld version 3.4.0 on September 16, which includes the LendingProtocolV1_1 code. This code defines closed vaults and a cash-based accounting mechanism. This feature allows depositors to lock XRP assets in a vault for a fixed term, with withdrawals only possible on a set redemption date. Investment terms range from a minimum of 60 seconds to a maximum of 30 years. The activation of this feature is still dependent on the amendment process and the rest of the XRPL lending stack.
