Materials exclusively obtained by Al Jazeera show that ISIL (ISIS) supporters are sharing methods to bypass AI safety measures and obtain information related to weapons. Research by Cambridge University found that Boko Haram militants are also using AI chatbots such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude, Google's Gemini, Musk's Grok, Meta AI, and China's DeepSeek to help build more powerful bombs, plan attacks, and solve problems in combat. UN officials warned the Security Council in February that ISIL and its affiliates have increased their use of advanced AI.
