Anthropic, OpenAI, SpaceXAI, Google, and other AI giants were hit with an antitrust lawsuit last Friday in a California federal court, accused of engaging in an illegal business conspiracy by publicly coordinating to slow down the pace of AI development. The plaintiffs argue that an earlier article by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei calling for "industry-wide coordination" to "control the pace of AI frontier development," along with public endorsements from industry leaders such as Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and Demis Hassabis, constitutes an illegal business agreement between competitors.
