The Saudi-led coalition announced that Iranian-backed Houthi rebels launched a ballistic missile towards the Saudi capital, Riyadh, at dawn on Saturday, but it was successfully intercepted and destroyed. The coalition spokesman also stated that Houthi forces attempted to attack civilian facilities in Bisha, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu, but all attempts were thwarted by Saudi air defense systems. This marks the first air raid siren in Riyadh since the escalation of the Houthi conflict in Yemen in July. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree, however, claimed that Houthi forces used cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and drones to strike "sensitive" locations in Riyadh and Aramco oil facilities in Yanbu.
