Despite widespread market expectations that a Federal Reserve rate hike and the failure of the CLARITY Act in the Senate would trigger a broad sell-off in crypto markets, Bitcoin showed resilience this week. Market experts believe Bitcoin's price stability proves its fundamentals are independent of Washington, with global liquidity and adoption cycles remaining the primary growth drivers. Ahead of the Senate vote, Bitcoin had fallen amid tension and rumors of partisan gridlock, but subsequently rebounded to around $75,000, appearing to shake off the impact of the bill's failure. Although $571 million in Bitcoin long futures positions were liquidated after the vote failed, and Coinbase and Circle shares fell as much as 10% at one point (rebounding by Friday), Bitcoin's spot price remained resilient.

Analysts noted that the market was not positioned for the bill's passage, which limited the scale of liquidations. The regulatory narrative has turned bullish—following the Senate's rejection of the CLARITY Act, analysts expect the SEC and CFTC to advance crypto regulation through agency-driven rulemaking. On Thursday, the SEC introduced a temporary, conditional "innovation exemption" allowing qualifying crypto platforms to trade tokenized U.S. stocks. Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan believes the U.S. still has two and a half years of a crypto-friendly regulatory period ahead, and that Bitcoin's future trajectory will depend more on market sentiment than on fundamentals.
