Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev believes crypto event contracts will surpass sports betting to become the dominant category in its prediction markets within a few years
Tenev noted that crypto-linked contracts are already taking a disproportionate share of Robinhood's prediction markets business. The company's event-contract revenue surged over tenfold year-over-year to $156 million in Q2 2026, with contracts traded 4.7 billion times in August alone, roughly 15 times the volume from a year earlier. Robinhood has expanded its prediction market offerings through partnerships with Kalshi, Rothera, Crypto.com, and OG.com, despite ongoing regulatory scrutiny in Washington regarding the blurring lines between investing and gambling.
