Cardano Foundation Discloses Origin of ADA Name, Commemorating Cardano's Ninth Anniversary
The Cardano blockchain will celebrate its ninth anniversary since its genesis block launch on September 23. The Cardano Foundation took this opportunity to share the naming history of its token, ADA, and the Cardano blockchain. The ADA token is named after mathematician Ada Lovelace (1815-1852), widely regarded as the first computer programmer, with its smallest unit being a "lovelace" (one-millionth of an ADA). The Cardano blockchain is named after the Renaissance Italian polymath Gerolamo Cardano (1501-1576), emphasizing its focus on mathematical rigor.
