Prediction market platform Kalshi asks CFTC to allow margin trading on its platform
Kalshi filed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on Tuesday to seek approval for offering leverage on event contracts. This move aims to attract greater institutional participation, a common practice on Wall Street for stocks and futures. If approved, marginable contracts will only be accessible to self-clearing members meeting specific capital requirements. Kalshi stated it would avoid offering margin opportunities on its sports, culture, and "mention" markets. Rival prediction market Polymarket reportedly made similar moves in July.
